🌅 Just Take the Next Step

📖 Today’s Reading

Isaiah 58–60 | John 6:40

“The Lord will guide you always.”— Isaiah 58:11

I keep thinking I'm going to get back on track.

Back to waking up early. Back to working out consistently. Back to eating better. Back to having the house organized. Back to getting everything done.

And then… life happens.

The past few weeks haven't exactly gone according to plan. Between recovering, an unexpected hospital stay, returning to work, family life, and simply being tired, I've had plenty of days when the things I planned to do didn't happen.

Even this past week, I thought I'd get back to working out.

I didn't.

And it's easy in those moments to think, Here we go again. I'm already behind.

But maybe God isn't asking me to catch up.

Maybe He's simply asking me to take the next step.

🌿 God Promises Guidance, Not the Whole Map

Isaiah 58:11 says:

“The Lord will guide you always.”

I love that it doesn't say:

“The Lord will show you the entire plan.”

Because honestly, that's usually what I want. 😂

I want to know how everything is going to work out before I start moving.

But God often gives us enough direction for today.

Get up.

Spend time with Me.

Take care of your body.

Love the person in front of you.

Do the work you can do.

Rest when you need to.

Then trust Me with tomorrow.

🌅 Arise, Shine

Isaiah 60 begins with these words:

“Arise, shine, for your light has come.”— Isaiah 60:1

There's something I love about the word arise.

It doesn't mean sprint.

It doesn't mean make up for everything you didn't accomplish yesterday.

It doesn't mean suddenly have your entire life together.

It simply means:

Get up.

And sometimes that's exactly what faithfulness looks like.

Maybe yesterday wasn't productive.

Maybe last week wasn't your best.

Maybe your plans got completely interrupted.

You can still arise today.

Not because you're suddenly stronger.

But because His light is still there.

❤️ You Don't Have to Fix Everything

Isaiah 59 reminds us:

“Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save.”— Isaiah 59:1

There are things in our lives we simply cannot control.

Our bodies don't always cooperate.

Our families go through difficult seasons.

Plans change.

People we love hurt.

Doors close.

Timelines shift.

And sometimes we exhaust ourselves trying to hold everything together.

But God's reach doesn't end where ours does.

What I cannot fix, God can still reach.

What I cannot see, God already knows.

And what feels unfinished to me may still be something God is working in.

✝️ Keep Looking to Jesus

Then Jesus gives us this beautiful promise in John 6:40:

“Everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life.”

Maybe that's the real invitation today.

Stop staring at everything that isn't finished and look at Jesus.

Not the missed workout.

Not yesterday's mistakes.

Not the unchecked boxes.

Not the plan that changed.

Jesus.

Because our hope was never supposed to come from having everything together.

Our hope comes from knowing Who holds us when we don't.

🌿 Hope for Today

If life hasn't gone according to plan lately, you don't have to make up for lost time today.

You don't have to fix everything.

You don't have to sprint.

Just arise.

Take the walk.

Say the prayer.

Open the Bible.

Make the phone call.

Do the next right thing.

And trust God with everything beyond that.

Because sometimes God's guidance isn't a spotlight illuminating the entire road.

Sometimes it's simply enough light for the next step. 🌅

🙏 Prayer

Jesus, thank You that Your love for me isn't measured by how much I accomplish. When I become discouraged by what I haven't done or anxious about everything ahead, turn my eyes back to You. Help me arise today, follow Your light, and faithfully take the next step You put in front of me. I trust You with the rest. Amen.
